BOLT THROWER - In Battle There Is No Law (Limited Edition White Vinyl LP)

Destruction, murder, that's all that is on the horizon. Released in 1988, at a time when death metal was still in its infancy and the vast majority of bands had not yet released their first album, the debut album by BOLT THROWER, "In Battle There Is No Law!", immediately hit the emerging underground scene like a ton of bricks. Preceded only by a handful of albums such as DEATH's "Scream Bloody Gore", NAPALM DEATH's "Scum", or NECROPHAGIA's "Season of the Dead", "In Battle There Is No Law!" is widely regarded as a landmark album and is among the very first death metal albums. Comprising 8 tracks, this album, originally released by Vinyl Solution, is undoubtedly the rawest and most primitive work of BOLT THROWER. Despite a resolutely brutal sound and still quite evident crust and punk influences, the characteristics that would make BOLT THROWER famous are already present. Although in a rather raw manner, far from being a flaw, it is precisely this unfiltered roughness, absent from their later albums, that gives "In Battle There Is No Law!" its unique charm. Instead of favouring original melodies and a mid-tempo groove, the composition leans more towards a frontal assault. Karl's vocals are also slightly different, sometimes abandoning his usual style for a sound closer to punk than death metal. Already addressing war in its darkest aspects, the lyrics of this first album feature a logo different from the rest of their discography. This logo, along with the punk aesthetic of the cover, further distinguishes BOLT THROWER's first album and makes it a unique record in the discography of one of the most important bands in death metal. "In Battle There Is No Law!" is available on white vinyl.
