JOY DIVISION - Unknown Pleasures (LP)

Unknown Pleasures is the first studio album by the British rock band Joy Division, released on 15 June 1979 under the independent label Factory Records. Produced by Martin Hannett, this dark and atmospheric record is considered one of the founding cornerstones of the post-punk and cold wave movements. It is the only album by the band released during the lifetime of their iconic singer, Ian Curtis.
The producer Martin Hannett used unconventional studio techniques, creating a spatial, icy, and stripped-back atmosphere that would define Joy Division's sound identity.
Designed by graphic designer Peter Saville, the black and white illustration represents the trace of radio waves emitted by the very first pulsar discovered, PSR B1919+21. This visual has become a timeless symbol of pop culture, massively reproduced on t-shirts and posters.
