Patchanka is the very first studio album by the French alternative rock band Mano Negra, released in 1988 under the independent label Boucherie Productions. Led by singer Manu Chao, this album lays the foundations of the band's unique musical identity: a blend of punk energy, ska, rock, reggae, and Latin rhythms, a festive style they themselves named "patchanka". Driven by the immediate international success of the single Mala Vida, the album quickly propelled Mano Negra as an essential reference of the European alternative rock scene.
