Bad is Michael Jackson's seventh solo album and his third for Epic Records. Co-produced by Michael Jackson, it is the third and final album produced by Quincy Jones. Released on August 31, 1987, this disc was probably the most anticipated of the 1980s because it was to succeed Thriller (1982), the best-selling album in the world.
With nearly 35 million copies sold worldwide, Bad is one of the best-selling albums in history and the artist's second best-selling album after Thriller. Nine songs from the album were released as official singles and six of them entered the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States with a record five No. 1s for I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man in the Mirror and Dirty Diana.
In addition, with this album, Michael Jackson once again marked the history of music videos with high-quality videos, including that of Bad directed by Martin Scorsese, and by the film Moonwalker (1988) which includes several clips from the album.
