Pretenders II is the second studio album by the Pretenders, released on 15 August 1981.
The success of the Pretenders' first album in 1980 created significant demand for new material, but a lack of songs delayed the quick production of the next album. In the UK, the band released two successful singles in 1980 and early 1981, Message of Love and Talk of the Town.
In March 1981 in the United States, the distribution of 7" singles became rare, and these tracks were combined with three other songs for a maxi 12". Their second album, Pretenders II, was completed shortly after, in just two months.
