DAVID BOWIE - Pin Ups - 50th Birthday Half Speed Master (LP)

October 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the release of PIN UPS, the cult cover album by David Bowie, originally released on 19 October 1973 – just six months after the legendary ALADDIN SANE and three months after the famous final concert of Ziggy Stardust at the Hammersmith Odeon, where he bid farewell to the character of Ziggy alongside the Spiders From Mars. On 20 October 2023, the day after this golden jubilee, PIN UPS will be reissued on 50th anniversary vinyl, in a limited edition and half-speed mastered. This new pressing has been made on a modified Neumann VMS80 turntable, with fully revised electronics, from 192 kHz restored masters of the original tapes, with no additional processing during the transfer. The half-speed cutting was done by John Webber at AIR Studios. Recorded at the Château d’Hérouville in France, where Bowie would later return to record the masterpiece LOW, PIN UPS is a collection of covers paying tribute to the bands and artists who inspired him and whom he saw in clubs like The Marquee in London in the mid to late 60s. Among the artists he covered for the album are The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, The Who, Pretty Things, The Easybeats and many more.
